Bollywood has been making a heck of a lot of movies every year, the number going up to as high as 500. While some of the movies remain obscure for the entire future, some grip a special place in our heart. Bollywood has always kept something in store for everyone, especially for our college buddies.
The industry has been making a lot of movies which college students would relate to, though the genre mainly revolves around the ‘coming-of-age’ and ‘rom-com’ movies. These movies not only illustrate the daily tussles of a college-goer, but they also elucidate the most cordial friendships we share.
Whether we talk about our last-night exam preps or those gigs in the café, these movies capture everything from the fresher's party to the farewell. Watching them will remind you of all those past memories, including you grim-look professors and all those swaggy bhaiyas.
This is the first movie which comes to our mind always when we talk about the Bollywood-College connection. Rancho, Raju, Farhan, and Chatur showed us the typical students every class has. Millimetre reminded us of all those crazy multitaskers in the campus.
F.A.L.T.U. gave us one of the first lessons in entrepreneurship. When you don’t get admission in any college, build your own. Most of all, don’t give a damn about planning the name. It will come along. And don’t forget to make all those freaky people join you.
One of the favourite movies of the 90s kids, Style has its own peculiar ‘style’. The movie reminds us of all those ‘Jugaadu’ duos every class had.
Though Karan Johar has a totally different perspective upon college life, his movie still gives us a few glimpses of those studious days. Movies like SOTY remind us of all our fresher parties and those desolate farewells.
Main Hoon Na was one movie which laid a big impact on us. At odds with the other movies in the league, this movie devoted much of its time to depicting the real college-life scenarios.
Despite its music creating a huge buzz, Yaariyan was a short-lived movie. However, this film didn’t fail in reminding us of all those college relationships we had, late night pyjama parties, and those amazing friendships we still cherish.
Rang De Basanti showed those enthusiastic collegians who were always ready to make a change. The face of every protest, these people never settled for anything less than their demand. From keeping a track of your fees to the quality of mess food, they were your real heroes without capes.
Love; Fights; Fun; Dance; Music; Kuch Kuch Hota Hai showed us all of them. This movie showed how love triangles can be totally twisted, and how your miserable performances can be turned into fantastic ones. Foreign Recruits, the solution to every problem. Boom.
An emotional watch though, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na showed us a super cool gang of college buddies, those trips, and late night parties. Pappu Can’t Dance Saala made our own Pappu famous in the entire college.
Featuring Ali Fazal and Vijay Raaz, Always Kabhi Kabhi took us on a tour through our final year struggles. When it’s the time to bind up everything and bid farewell, saying “Good Bye” doesn’t seem easy at all.
College life is one of the best phases of our life and we know how badly we miss it. For all the folks still in their college, don’t just sit back in your rooms and explore all the wonders.
